This term Badger Class has an exciting term ahead. Our topic and focus for this term is the Amazon Rainforest. If your child has any books, artefacts or photographs related to the topic that they would like to share with the class please encourage them to bring them in. We have a share time every Friday afternoon. As Writers we will focus on a story called The Kapok Tree, we will use this to inspire our writing using it to write our own warning tale, having class persuasive discussions as to the benefits and downfalls of deforestation and writing a persuasive letter to explain the impact of deforestation. As Mathematicians we will learn about short division, plotting shape on co-ordinates and measures. As Scientists we will be finding out about living things and their habitats and plants. As Geographers we will look at maps and find out about the continents as well as time zones. We will also find out about where the Amazon is and the physical geography of the rainforest. As Artists we will study Henri Rosseau and recreate art in his style as well as make a 3d model of the rainforest layers. Spellings and times tables will be set and tested each Friday.
