Class Blogs

This week…

This week the class have started their new topic focusing on the Mayans.  We have been archaeologists and have used the information that we have, including photographs of buildings and objects, maps and a timeline to try to deduce  information about what it was like to be a Mayan.  Some of the questions we have been discussing include – Some of the cities in the South of Maya went into decline whilst those in the North became stronger, why do you think this was?  Is there anything geographically important about where the Mayans lived?  Did Mayans travel between cities, how might they have done this?

Next week we are going to be thinking about what it was like to be a Mayan and how it was different if you were rich or poor.

The children seem to be really interested in the topic and are asking some really good questions.  The whole school homework will be sent home next week and this will give you the opportunity to work with your child to discover more about the Mayan way of life.
