What is compassion?


Compassion was our value as a school for this term.

Who are the heroes of compassion?

  • My sister – she plays with me
  • My brother – If I feel sad he cheers me up
  • Benny T helps me
  • Emily because she helps me.

How can you tell when someone needs help?

  • Crying
  • Sad
  • Asking for help
  • Misbehave
  • Fallen over
  • Stuck up tree
  • Friendship bench.

When is it a challenge to be caring/ put others first?

  • Trying to share
  • When they have annoyed you
  • Giving your things away.

What have you learnt when you have helped someone?

  • When you be kind to somebody
  • Being help someone
  • If you help someone you get friends
  • You feel compassionate.

Where in the World is compassion needed and how can we help?

  • Syria
  • Antarctica.

How does it feel when you help someone?

  • Good
  • Happy
  • I have achieved something today.

How can we show we are sorry?

  • I would say sorry
  • Give a cuddle
  • Try to make up and make friends again
  • Tell teacher.

What is the one thing you wished people knew about you?

  • That I like playing with my cars
  • That I have a creative mind
  • That I love climbing and outdoor activities as well as indoors
  • Everybody knew I was kind and caring to property.

How can we make sure we are a compassionate school?

  • Because the school is caring and kind
  • Everybody is kind to each other.

How can you comfort someone who is upset?

  • Play with them
  • Give them a toy
  • See what was wrong
  • See if they want to play
  • Talk to them/ smile
  • Put some music
  • Make sure they’re ok – have fun with them.

What might it mean to be a hero of compassion?

  • It means you let someone have a happy day
  • It means you are a kind person and you have a happy spirit.

How do you know when someone is your friend?

  • People are kind to you
  • People play with you
  • When people listen to you
  • When people play with us.
