School Farm and Country Fair

On Thursday 23rd April the Badgers went to the School Farm and Country Fair. Over 4,000 school children attended this year and we were lucky to be one of the schools selected. There were lots of things to do and see including: viewing and petting livestock, watching displays of the animals at work, investigating how crops are grown and seeing the different machinery used on farms. We had a fantastic time, hear what we had to say about the day below:

‘I loved holding the ducklings. They were so soft!’

‘Seeing the animals was fun.’

‘I liked watching the displays. The gun dogs are really clever.’

‘The crop duster was huge!’

‘I liked tasting the different foods. The venison burger was really nice.’

Deforestation

Badgers have been learning all about the rainforest and deforestation. We learnt about the effects it has on the plants, animals, local people and wider world and decided that we needed to try and make people aware of the devastation caused. We designed web pages to inform people about what is going on and how they might be able to help. We tried to make them colourful and interesting to catch people’s attention and included lots of good facts. Have a look at our finished designs. Do you agree that deforestation needs to be stopped?

Badger Class News, December

We have been very busy in Badgers! Not only have we been rehearsing for our assembly and our Christmas play, we have also found the time to: make decorations for the school Christmas tree;  practice our French numbers by doing a colour by numbers; listen to a wonderful story telling of the Advent Story and reflect upon it by making collages and pictures; and making snow flakes to decorate the classroom.
We also ran a multi-sports festival for the Rabbits. It was great fun and everyone got stuck in. The Badgers showed great leadership skills as it was their responsibility to explain to the Rabbits the rules of the games and help them complete the task.

Plants

Badger class have been busy planting runner beans and courgettes, linking with their science learning on plants.
