Summer 2nd Half Term

We hope that you have all had a fun filled half term break. The topic for this half term will be on the farm. We have a trip to Banham Zoo at the beginning of this half term. The children will be taking part in a fun sing along session called Old MacDonald had a Zoo! In literacy we are going to be reading lots of stories that are set on a farm, including; What the Ladybird Heard, Tattybogle, Rosie’s Walk and Fergus the Farmyard Dog. The children will be looking at rhyming words, making up their own stories and writing facts about farm animals. Maths this half term will focus on; counting and comparing numbers, capacity, 3D solids, directions, money and time. In understanding of the world the children will learn about; farming, using our senses, the season summer and growth and change. In PE we will be practising athletic skills in preparation for sports day. As artists the children will be creating maps, building a model farmyard and designing our own scarecrow. The theme for personal, social and emotional development is going for goals. This is an exciting half term as the children will begin their transition sessions for moving into year 1. If you have  any questions please come and talk to us.

Mini Beasts

The children in Rabbit Class are learning all about mini beasts. We have; researched the life cycle of a caterpillar, made caterpillar tortilla rolls and we have been on a hunt for mini beasts.

Spring Term

Keeping Busy

We have been so busy in Rabbit class… We have been learning about patterns, making bird feeders, sharing our learning journeys, painting Chinese dragons, practising our writing, playing in the snow and having lots of fun in PE.

Chinese New Year

Rabbit Class have been learning about Chinese New Year. Mrs Chapman helped us cook sweet and sour chicken. We talked about raw meat and how to tell when it was cooked. We tasted our food afterwards! It was yummy.

We’ve been talking about our likes and aspirations for our first year at Barningham CEVC Primary.

Here are some of our reflections:

 We like:

  • painting letters
  • playing in the igloo – really fun;
  • kicking balls
  • making gingerbread men
  • maths
  • money puzzles
  • learning about sounds.

 We would like to:

  • learn more about letters and key words
  • digraphs and trigraphs so that I can write more
  • painting.

What would you like to learn?
