Owl Class are looking forward to this new year. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year! I am very excited and looking forward to teaching Owl Class over the next two terms. Owl Class have ‘Coasts, rivers and mountains’ as their Topic for this term.
As Geographers we will look at the water cycle, rivers and their effect on the landscape and the physical geography of mountains and mountain ranges. As Writers we will focus on writing short mystery stories, introducing Shakespeare (Romeo and Juliet), journalistic report writing and narrative poetry. As Mathematicians we will be re-enforcing the four operations, fractions, decimals and measures. As Scientists we will be finding out about the Earth and space. We learn about the sun, why the moon changes shape as well as looking at the other planets in the solar system. As Artists and Designers we will study textiles: origami stars, making planet models and designing space ships. In P.E this term will be gymnastics and games. As linguists, we will learn about how to say the time, numbers, food and giving directions in French. Our RE is studying Christianity. We listen to your child read regularly in school, but ask that you try to listen to your child each day at home. Ten minutes a day really makes a huge impact on your child’s progress, this not only supports reading but the whole curriculum. Your continued support with this is most appreciated. Spellings and times tables will be set and tested each Friday. Ms McDonnell
