Rabbit Class hope that you have all had a fun filled half term break. This half term our topic is mini beasts. In literacy we will be reading stories about mini beasts including ‘The Snail and the Whale’ by Julia Donaldson and ‘Billy’s Beetle’ by Mick Inkpen. The children will be writing their own story about a mini beast. In understanding of the world we will be; learning about the lifecycle of a butterfly, looking at mini beast habitats, investigating similarities and differences between dragonflies and damselflies and carrying out a bee watch. In maths the children will be learning; to count in 10’s, to add and subtract by counting on and back, how to sort shapes and number families to 6 and 7. PE this half term will focus on kicking and passing a ball and practicing races for sports day. Most of our PE lessons will be outside. As artists we will be creating observational drawings and paintings of mini beasts and making wax resist pictures of dragonflies. Please could you send in a named sun hat and apply sun cream before coming to school now that the weather is warming up. This is an exciting half term as the children will begin their transition sessions for moving into Y1. If you have any questions please come and talk to us. Mrs Parr and Miss Garland
