I hope that you have all had a fantastic summer. I am really looking forward to the year ahead in Squirrel class. Our topic for this term is ‘ourselves’, which will be incorporated throughout the curriculum. In literacy this term we will be looking at stories in familiar settings and fantasy tales – such as Tiger who came to Tea and Room on a Broom. Please can you listen to your child read and work with their spellings. As mathematicians we will be focusing on number and place value, the four main operations, measurement and shape. As scientists we will investigate at healthy lifestyles and explore at the seasonal differences between autumn and winter. In geography we will be looking at our local area and using maps. As historians we will be looking at how shops and shopping have changed since the 1930s as well as discovering how the telephone has changed in design and function over time. In music we will be exploring duration and pulse. The class will have PE on Wednesday with Will plus one other session a week. Each child requires a named red T-shirt and black shorts. Mrs Orchard will be teaching the class every Tuesday. Her focus the four main operations in maths (addition, subtraction, multiplication & division) and Exciting Writing in the morning and art, RE and PSHCE in the afternoons.
