Welcome back! I can’t believe that it is the Summer term already!
I have another full and exciting timetable planned for the Squirrel Class this half term which is centered around our topic From Field to Fork.
Our main focus will be farming, and the journey our food is on from being in the field to reaching our plates. In Numeracy we are focusing on multiplication, division, data handling, fractions and measure this half term. As Writers we will become explorers, writing exciting adventure stories! We will also be learning about Wonder Goal by Michael Rosen and will be using this text as a stimulus for our own writing. As Scientists we will be learning about the growth of plants. We will be thinking about what plants and crops need to grow most effectively. We will be carrying out our own investigations and considering how to present our findings and conduct a fair test. We will also be thinking about the food we eat, discussing healthy and balanced diets. As Geographers we will be exploring the world! We will be looking at all of the different places food our food comes from (thank you for packaging so far!). We will be considering the benefits of eating local food and thinking about the impact food miles have on our environment. PE for this term is Dance and Athletics. In dance we will be preparing for the upcoming May Day celebrations. We are very lucky and have Will this half term for athletics. Please could you provide outdoor footwear and some jogging bottoms PE kits. As Designers we will be focussing on food this half term. We will be preparing some healthy dishes and exploring why it is important to have a varied diet. We will be weighing ingredients and finding out where they have come from. In Computing our focus will be data handling. We will be presenting data based on a variety of investigations using Microsoft Excel. Our Language this term is French, where we will be continuing to learn greetings and conversational language. I can’t wait for another busy half term with the Squirrels!
